• After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I worked in the field 3yrs in a private practice setting as a bilingual (Spanish) clinician while working on my master’s degree in Social Work at UTA.

• I have spent most of my life living in Texas; however, I had the opportunity as a United States Marine to live in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia as well as Texas, throughout 8yrs. This memorable experience taught me to work with a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and different genders, and sexual orientations.

• I have worked with adult female offenders that committed various ranges of crimes in a mental health residential program for patients with co-occurring disorders.

• I have worked with various populations in both my undergrad and graduate internships, assisting children, adolescents, and adults while providing a safe space. I can assist with anxiety, depression, difficult life challenges, and low self-esteem.

• I am especially passionate about the needs of the Hispanic/Latino community in the DFW area. As a Mexican American, I understand that language can be a barrier for non-English speakers. I am fully fluent in Spanish and can provide therapy sessions in Spanish.

• I have counseled individuals in a rehabilitative medical setting and pain management utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, SMART Goals, and Mindful Breathing Meditation.

• I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego. While studying at UCSD, I took every substance abuse and mental health course offered with the hopes of working in the mental health field, as well as different science courses to gain a better understanding of the chemical workings of the brain.

• I worked with Dr. George Koob, the current Director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), for a year conducting research in his lab on alcoholism and addiction.

• I then enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington to earn my Master’s in Social Work and graduated with honors.

• I am a bilingual counselor, offering services in both Spanish and English. I have experience providing individual, couples, and group therapy. I am trained in EMDR and TF-CBT as treatment interventions.
