Offering Services in Spanish and English

My background

After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I worked in the field 3yrs in a private practice setting as a bilingual (Spanish) clinician while working on my master’s degree in Social Work at UTA.

I have spent most of my life living in Texas; however, I had the opportunity as a United States Marine to live in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia as well as Texas, throughout 8yrs. This memorable experience taught me to work with a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and different genders, and sexual orientations.
I have worked with adult female offenders that committed various ranges of crimes in a mental health residential program for patients with co-occurring disorders.

I have worked with various populations in both my undergrad and graduate internships, assisting children, adolescents, and adults while providing a safe space. I can assist with anxiety, depression, difficult life challenges, and low self-esteem.

I am especially passionate about the needs of the Hispanic/Latino community in the DFW area. As a Mexican American, I understand that language can be a barrier for non-English speakers. I am fully fluent in Spanish and can provide therapy sessions in Spanish.

I have counseled individuals in a rehabilitative medical setting and pain management utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, SMART Goals, and Mindful Breathing Meditation. My view on counseling

I believe the therapeutic relationship that is built between a therapist and client is the most important aspect of therapy. Thus, I value creating a safe nonjudgmental space that will allow individuals to be their authentic selves, share their concerns, and work towards change.
My principal framework is operating from a holistic approach to understanding the development of each person within the context of their relationships and culture. I utilize multiple therapeutic modalities to better support and empower individuals in tackling the everyday challenges they face.

My view on counseling

I am passionate about my gift to make a difference in someone’s life through my experiences and education. I desire that I can guide the path forward with positive choices, healing, and growth. Each client brings something special to the counseling process and I am thankful for the opportunity that I have to share in some small part of my client’s journeys.

My areas of expertise are primarily in working with clients struggling with stress, anxiety, anger, co-occurring disorders, and PTSD. I enjoy working with clients who are interested in making positive changes.

I believe the overall goal of therapy is to help clients better understand and manage how to overcome life’s challenges and obstacles, minor or significant. I can offer a helping hand while helping you learn new ways to manage and cope with life as it occurs.
